Our Port Concessions

The Autonomous Port of Conakry (APC) has established port concessions with several key stakeholders to strengthen its operations and connectivity. Among these concessions, the Alport Conakry group signed a twenty-five-year contract for the management of the “conventional” part of the port, which handles goods that are not containerized. In return for this agreement, the company committed to investing $200 million over two years and $500 million in the long term, thereby enhancing the port’s operational capacities. Among the works and acquisitions completed and ongoing, we can mention:

  • The rehabilitation and equipment of the Conventional Port;
  • The construction of the access road and parking areas;
  • The construction and development of a 400 m long quay founded at 12 m, and a 10-hectare yard in the East Zone
  • The acquisition of handling and construction equipment;
  • The rehabilitation of public lighting within the port area;
  • The construction of a 4 km access road with a parking area for 1,200 trucks;
  • Dredging to deepen the port to –14 meters;
  • The construction of three new quays;
  • The construction of a modern Fishing Port.

Furthermore, the APC has established a concession agreement for the Container Terminal with the Bolloré Africa Logistics Group. This collaboration strengthens the APC’s capacities in container handling and contributes to the efficiency and speed of port operations. The duration of the agreement is 25 years, with an estimated investment cost of 500 million euros. Among the works completed and equipment acquired, we have:

  • The construction of a quay with a length of 340 linear meters and a depth of –13 meters ;
  • La fixation des défenses de quais ;
  • The development of an area of 120,000 square meters of yards for port operations;
  • Maintenance, servicing, extension, equipment, handling of eligible cargo (containers and RORO goods), delivery, safety/security, and collection of required fees.
  • L’acquisition de 2 portiques de quai sur rails, et de 12 portiques de parc sur pneus.
  • The acquisition of two (02) quay cranes, twelve (12) yard cranes, and four tractors;
  • The development of an 11,000-square-meter storage area at the railway station;
  • Extension of 6 hectares by land reclamation from the sea for storage yards to alleviate the current congestion of the container terminal.
  • The development of 5,000 square meters at the Kagbélén Dry Port.

In addition, the Rusal Guinea Group is also a key player within the port, contributing to the management and development of port activities. Its activities are as follows:

  • The management and operation of the Mineral Ports (Bauxite and Alumina) of the Port of Conakry:
  • The maintenance, servicing, and operation of the port area granted under concession by the APC;
  • The maintenance, servicing, and operation of auxiliary port facilities and equipment for the mines, granted by the State on the port premises;
  • The reception and loading of alumina and bauxite for export, and unloading of imported mining inputs.

These strategic partnerships demonstrate the APC’s commitment to establishing strong collaborations with key stakeholders to enhance its operational capacities, improve the efficiency of port operations, and contribute to the region’s economic development.
